Local mental health support service, Jigsaw, based in Balbriggan, are looking for new premises. The group brings together community and statutory services to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people around the locality. Armin Krautgasser, Project Manager for Jigsaw North Fingal told the County Leader: “Three hundred young people have accessed direct mental health supports in Jigsaw’s Balbriggan Hub. A further 1,800 young people have participated in a mental health literacy awareness programme. Given this demand and need for the service, Jigsaw has already outgrown its existing premises in Balbriggan. In order to continue fulfilling this need the project urgently requires new Balbriggan town centre premises.” “In order to ensure maximum accessibility, we require a wheelchair accessible central location in Balbriggan,” he explained. “Over the last two months, we have been looking into premises in Balbriggan, however, we have not been able to find a suitable premises in the area. We would be grateful if the community would help us find the ideal town centre location for the service in Balbriggan.” Speaking recently about the service, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr James Reilly said: “Countless young people have affirmed that their interaction with Jigsaw improved their sense of well-being thus avoiding a potential downward spiral. In the case of Balbriggan I would encourage civic leaders and others to try and help this group to find the optimum location to continue doing its work,” he said.
